Learner-Centered Innovation Book Study: What If? and Part 1 Recap #LCInnovation

This week we kicked off the Learner-Centered Innovation Book Study with the Into- What If? and Part 1. My greatest hope was to inspire educators to think about what is possible in our schools today and it has been so fun to see what people’s connections, ideas, and most importantly, the impact that they have had in their context as they read the book. I wrote this in the introduction and it means even more now!
As you read this book, whether you are a teacher, an instructional coach, district or site administrator, or anyone who cares about how we learn in schools, I hope you consider the power within your sphere of influence to create the change you want to see in your own context. The role of you, the reader, is not to just consume and copy my ideas or the ideas of others I will share but to dive in, question, create new meaning and ultimately ask “What If?” and begin to create the change you wish to see in your context.

During the Twitter Chat on Wednesday, 5/8 at 6 PST we had an awesome group that connected and shared so many ideas, questions, and examples. Here are some of my favorites ( there are so many I couldn’t add them all!) but definitely check out the #LCInnovation hashtag and please feel free to continue to add your examples!
We will be reading Part 2- Learning to Improve this week with the Twitter Chat on Wednesday at 6 pm PST/ 9 EST. Hope you can join us! If you are reading (or have read) Learner-Centered Innovation and have examples that you have put into practice, I would love to see them! Please share in the comments or on Twitter or Instagram with #LCInnovation.

It is wonderful that Katie reminds us that teachers and administrators should be included as learners and have the same kinds of hands-on, collaborative opportunities that students do! I agree that we need to embrace the different ways that adults learn, in addition to the different ways children learn.
